So here is our attempt to catalogue all the great foods, wines, restaurants and other gastronomic experiences we have encountered in our lives and our travels.
As many people we love good food and good wines…. living in NYC at the moment but coming from over 10 years of life in London, UK.
David is Australian and I, Alessia, am Italian from Rome and food has always been a great part of my life… I used to spend hours watching my grandmother making gnocchi… rolling them with a fork on the wooden table, one by one… or cutting circles of dough with the edge of a glass for her whilst she was preparing the meat for tortellini.
For me food is not only hedonistic pleasure, but a way of creating a deep interaction with the environment, with a certain place at certain time.
One of the things I learnt from David was the love for traveling and experiencing a place by its agricultural produce, its animals, its dishes. I got rid of some of the snobbish Italian attitude about every other food always being inferior to our one and we have travelled to a lot of places like Argentina, Vietnam, Bolivia, China, Madagascar, North Africa, Cuba, Mexico, Europe etc, accumulating a lot of experience, eating everywhere from the top restaurants to the worse street vendors….
The aim of this blog is to record some of these experiences, the “sticky” things that stayed in our memories, and the ones that we have yet to go through.
